Tutorial: Custom Munny & Helmet By Wavedog

Step 2: Print out the design and spray mount it to a piece of plywood.

Step 3: Cut out the template using a scroll saw. Children make sure you get an adult to help you out.

Step 4: Glue it together and prime it. Use nuts, bolts or screws to attach all the wood parts to the vinyl. Glue wood to wood parts together using Elmers wood glue. As a primer for the first coat use Golden’s GAC 200 which is a molecular bonding agent, it protects acrylic paint from chipping off vinyl. Then put on 3 to 5 coats of gesso primer.

Step 5: Paint the helmet. Use liquitex acrylic medium viscosity with usually 2 layers.

Step 6: Measure and mark where the holes for the helmet will go. Drill the holes in the Munnys’s head.

Step 7: Screw the helmet to the Munny’s head securely.

Step 8: Paint the rest of the custom toy in the same way you painted the helmet.

Step 9: Finish it! The black lines are drawn with a rapidograph pen.
